Pool sessions at Copeland Pool
more info..
In 2009 the first pool session became very busy, particularly the 1st session. We were regularly getting 35 people turning up, resulting in 10 people going away disappointed. It was proposed to trial a first come first served principle. The outcome of this trial was that parents were having to bring their children as early as 7pm in order to be one of the first 25 in the pool.
In December 2009, some of the parents established an informal "Parents Association" in order to help the committee run the club. They worked with committee members to propose a new arrangement for the first session. The proposal has been agreed by committee members and went live on Tuesday 26th February 2010.
1st session paddlers have been ranked by how many times they attended between September and December 2009. The top 25 will be allowed to continue paddling in the 1st session. Other paddlers can stay on the waiting list should they wish to. We realise that this will inconvenience the occasional paddler, but overall the Parents Association and the Committee feel that this is the best way forward. It will allow us to deliver a structured training programme, where paddlers can learn more and develop through the club. Fees for the first session should be paid in ten week blocks (£30) in advance. If this causes a problem, please see Gwen (Treasurer).
Should any flexibility be required with regard to these guidelines, then the decision lies with the most senior coach on the night. The committee reserves the right to amend these arrangements as necessary. If you have any questions, please contact Andy Bennion or Al Yates.
