River Tyne

North Tyne 05,06/11/11:
16 of us braved the cool (not to say cold) weather at Hexham over the weekend to paddle the North Tyne.
A small group (including Bran the dog) went from Wark to Barrasford where we were entertained by university students capsizing. This is a nice touring section with good scenery and the odd grade II rapid.
The section from Barrasford to Hexham is similar but includes Chollerford weir and Warden Gorge. This is the only proper grade III on the river and as such can be a surprise to many - but not Ray this year (in the big boat!).
Ben and Rob entered the down river Topo Duo race this year and won. Well done!
