White Water Safety and Rescue Course Six of us, Joe, Al, Rob, Rich, Nick and Josh took part in a an interesting and useful course in the Eden and the Tees recently. Highly recommended! Anyone who would like to take part in another one should discuss things with Mark J soon. Photos for this and other events when Al gets back from holiday!
Club Holiday We had a very successful few days in North Wales with only an hour or so of rain, the rest of the time was sunny although not always very warm. Many thanks to Joe for organising this.
Some of us are heading to the Alps at the start of August for a week or so!
Sunday 5 June, Seaquest, was very successful, being blessed with sunshine and light winds. Well done to all who entered, thanks to all who helped especially Karen. The 2016 results are here! .
The Scarness weekend at Bassenthwaite had good weather and a fun time was had by all. Thanks to Andy for organising and coordinating things!
Remember our pool sessions end on 19 July and restart on 6 September.
On Tuesdays 26 July and 2, 9, 16, 23, 30 August we paddle outside. If you would like to come along please turn up at the pool on Tuesdays from 6 September onwards, start 8.00pm, or contact us via this website.
Pool prices We have reluctantly had to increase our charges to £4.00 for members and £5.00 for non-members, from 6 September. We have kept our prices at their previous level for more than 10 years now and cannot absorb any more hire cost increases.
These are weather dependent, very much so in the case of river trips!
Members are encouraged to check for themselves things such as the weather conditions before paddling.
Sunday 7 August: Family paddle. Contact Mark Jones for further details.
Wavehopper races at Greenodd (Crake) evenings of 4 July, 2 August.
Jim Wilson Memorial paddle, 25 September. See the external events page for more detail and downloads.
Technically August is Summer but... it still can be pretty cool in windy conditions so please ensure you have enough clothing to keep you warm and carry safety gear as well as food / drink. You might need sun cream as well! Be careful out there...
After last year's flooding many local rivers have changed. Many have debris and other items in them and may have changed their course in places.
The water in the rivers might be contaminated. Please be careful to take precautions with hygiene.
Please check websites / facebook groups for information before paddling!
Our friends at the West Cumbria Rivers Trust have sent us a copy of their latest newsletter - see what has been happening on and in our local rivers in the last few months! Download it here: WCRT News Winter 2015
