Outdoor trips

These are weather dependent, very much so in the case of river trips!
Members are encouraged to check for themselves things such as weather conditions before paddling.

External events

Our local BC group have a number of events for women, sea kayaking and open boating organised for 2017, other clubs in the area often send us information regarding events they have organised. Our external events page has details.

Our friends at the Whitehaven Harbour Youth Project have sent some information regarding an interesting project at Whitehaven Harbour. Our external events page has more information.

Seaquest 2017

This took place on 25 June, the weather was sunny and warm although rather windy! Over 50 competitors took part in finding orienteering markers around the estuaries at Ravenglass. Many of the competitors took time to let us know how much they had enjoyed the event. Mabybe next year for you?
Full results and pictures on the Seaquest page.

Waterways and Environment

Be aware...

It's Summer (almost) but it is still cool at times out there! The sea temperature is roughly 14C, Lakes a little warmer... It can still be cool in windy conditions so please ensure you have enough clothing to keep you warm and carry safety gear as well as food / drink... The sun is strong enough to give some skin damage so take sun cream with you! The Midges have arrived on their holidays from Scotland... Be careful out there...

Please check websites / facebook groups for information before paddling!

Our friends at the West Cumbria Rivers Trust have sent us a copy of their latest newsletter - see what has been happening on and in our local rivers in the last few months! Download it here: WCRT News Spring 2017
