Outdoor trips - payment for borrowing gear
After a review of finances, we are ask only those who borrow gear (eg a boat etc) to pay for its hire, same cost as a pool session.
Updated: Risk Assessment, Code of Conduct for the Pool, training info for using the Storage area. Outdoor procedures and Paddle UK updated advice etc, "Paddlesafer V10"

Pool numbers
For safety reasons, we need to know how many people are in the pool and who they are. To achieve this, we have introduced Wrist Bands. This means that everyone who paddles will need to check in at the the Club's Reception Desk in the pool foyer and collect a band, even if you have prebooked and prepaid.
These will be needed to check into the Pool area itself, and collected at the end of the session.
We hope this will make things easier and safer for all. While you are in the pool area, please follow any instructions from the Pool Staff.

A booking and payment system called "Spond" is live for members,
who get an invitation by email to attend a session a few days before the event. If you download the app on your phone (although not necessary) you can confirm your attendance, pay for it and send messages about it. This happens each week!
This will mean you cannot book a session via Spond unless you pay using the App, this will guarantee you a space in the pool. ( at £5). Paying at the Pool will still be available, also direct bank transfers. The App knows how many we can accommodate in the pool and will create a waiting list if overbooked. Anyone making Family payments - you can book in for two (£10) and let us know if there are more than two. You can send messages via Spond. If you use the pay as you book system, you will need to register a Card with the Spond App. The company handling the payments is a World Wide payment handling company called STRIPE, it has the highest of Payment Company credentials and is internationally recognised. SPOND itself do NOT handle the payments. STRIPE works through the Spond App. Any problems, please let us know.

Club trips
If you are new to paddling we have an information sheet available. This includes a map to show where our garage / store is.
Equipment can be borrowed if needed: personal items such as waterproof cagoule tops - please take home with you and rinse through / dry them for another time. And return it please!

Booking on for trips - members can use Spond for outside Tuesday trips. You can contact us as usual.

We also now have an instagram channel - copeland_canoe_club which has news and info as well.
Contact details - it would be very helpful if you let us have up to date info in case of changes at short notice (such as weather problems).
If you have your own gear this would be a big help: transport, we might be able to help with carrying boats etc but not of course people. If you are going straight to a destination please let us know.
Things you might consider bringing: for day paddles, a drink and food. Also a helmet if it's a river trip or you might be getting up close and personal with rocks while sea kayaking...
Some car parks are P&D so you need money!

Personal Canoeing Awards: we are in a position to discuss with paddlers if they would like to improve their skills and what they would like to do. We can offer Paddlestart (beginners), Discovery (improvers, think old 1 Star award!) and Explore (a self sufficient paddler, part of a group, think old 2 Star!) Talk to a coach please.
Pool sessions: we hope to be able to offer a set of internal club awards in the Spring.

Access to Ennerdale Water for Paddlers, see the access page for information. We now have access to the track from How Hall Farm to the old Angler's Hotel site on the lakeshore, for club activities only: however the track itself is in a poor state and we hope to have news about improvements later in 2026.

Our club member and good friend Paul died on Tuesday 15 August 2023. We will miss him.
