In case the writing is a little hard to read:
"While canoeing on this river you are likely to encounter some anglers, all of whom are happy be sharing the river with other responsible sports enthusiasts. Many thanks and happy paddling!"

Local access...
Ennerdale Water: Latest Information - using the old Angler's Hotel site:
We have been able to gain access for Club Activities only to the lane from How Hall Farm. However it is rough and we cannot at the moment recommend taking cars down it! Access is by a number coded padlock which will only be used by Club Members for Club Activities.
Access to Ennerdale Water via the other two car parks (Bleach Green and Bowness Knott) both involve a fairly long portage.
If you are paddling on your own or as part of a small family group then you do not need a permit. For more information see the Wild Ennerdale website where details of what large groups should do is available.
